Privacy Policy
Short, because there is little to describe. Snapdown has no accounts, no analytics scripts and no stored media.

The short version
We do not ask who you are, and we do not build a record of what you do here. There is no account system, no third-party analytics, no advertising network and no cross-site tracking. Links you paste are used to answer that one request and are not written to a database.
What we do not collect
- No name, email address or any other identifying detail.
- No Snapchat credentials — you are never asked to log in anywhere.
- No stored history of the links you submit or the profiles you look up.
- No advertising or analytics cookies, and no tracking pixels.
- No copies of the videos or photos you download.
What necessarily passes through our server
To answer a request at all, our extractor has to receive the link you submit and fetch the corresponding public Snapchat page. In the course of that:
- The submitted link is held in memory for the length of the request and then discarded. It is not persisted.
- Operational logs record that a request happened, whether it succeeded, and the error class if it did not. These exist so a break can be diagnosed, are not joined to any identity, and are not used to profile visitors.
- Standard network metadata such as IP address and user agent reaches our infrastructure provider, as it does for any website you visit. We do not mine it and we do not sell it.
- Downloaded files stream through our proxy from Snapchat's servers to yours. Bytes are relayed, never written to disk and never retained.
Local storage on your device
One item only: your light or dark theme preference, saved in your browser'slocalStorage under the key theme. It never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
We set no cookies of our own.
Third parties
Snapdown is served as static files and self-hosts its fonts, so ordinary page loads make no requests to third-party domains. Two exceptions are inherent to the tool:
- Snapchat. Our server fetches public Snapchat pages on your behalf, and downloads stream from Snapchat's CDN. Their handling of that traffic is governed by their own policies.
- Our hosting and edge provider. They process request metadata as described above in order to serve the site.
Preview thumbnails shown in results are loaded from Snapchat's CDN by your browser, which means those specific image requests do reach Snapchat directly. The media download itself goes through our proxy rather than exposing your browser to the CDN.
Public content only
Snapdown reaches only what Snapchat publishes openly. It never authenticates, so private Stories, Friend Stories, direct snaps and anything behind a login are inaccessible. That is a property of how it is built, not a setting.
Children
This tool is not directed at children under 13. We collect no personal information from anyone, so there is nothing for us to delete on request — but if you believe a child's content is reachable through Snapdown and should not be, write to us and we will act.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction, erasure and portability apply to personal data a service holds about you. We hold none, so in practice there is nothing to access or erase. If you think we are mistaken about that in your case, contact us and we will look into it properly.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be obvious rather than buried, because the honest version of this document is always going to be a short one.
