1. What Snapdown is

Snapdown is a free browser tool that locates publicly available Snapchat media and lets you save it. It reads pages that Snapchat publishes to the open web. It does not host content, does not store the files that pass through it, and does not require an account.

2. Public content only

The tool never authenticates against Snapchat. It has no credentials and no way to sign in, which means private Stories, Friend Stories, group Stories, direct snaps, My Eyes Only and anything on a private account are inaccessible through it. Do not attempt to use Snapdown to reach private material, and do not ask us to add that capability.

3. Your responsibilities

By using Snapdown you agree that:

• You are responsible for what you download and for what you subsequently do with it.
• You will respect the rights of the people who created the content, including copyright and Snapchat's own terms.
• You will not redistribute, republish, monetise or claim authorship of someone else's content without their permission.
• You will not use the tool to harass, stalk, monitor or profile any individual, or to circumvent someone having blocked or restricted you.
• You will not attempt to attack, overload or automate abusive traffic against the service, and you will not use it to build a competing bulk-scraping product.
• You are of an age where you may lawfully agree to these terms in your jurisdiction.

4. Copyright

Content on Snapchat belongs to the people who made it. Saving a public clip for your own offline viewing is generally acceptable personal use in most places. Reposting it, editing it into your own upload, or using it commercially generally is not, unless you have permission or an applicable exception applies. Snapdown gives you access to a file; it does not grant you any rights in that file.

We host no content, so there is nothing on our servers to take down. If your work is reachable through the tool and you want that to stop, write to[email protected] and we will act on it — though the durable fix is usually to change the post's visibility on Snapchat, since that is what makes it reachable in the first place.

5. Availability

The service is provided free and as-is, with no uptime commitment. It depends on pages whose structure Snapchat may change at any time, and on Snapchat not rate-limiting our servers, so interruptions should be expected rather than treated as unusual. We may modify, restrict or discontinue any part of it without notice.

6. No warranty

Snapdown is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, that any particular link will resolve, or that a downloaded file will meet your expectations.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Since Snapdown is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to zero. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages and costs arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms, including any claim brought by a rights holder over content you downloaded or redistributed.

9. No affiliation with Snap Inc.

Snapdown is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or in any way officially connected to Snap Inc. Snapchat, the Snapchat logo and the Ghost logo are trademarks of Snap Inc. Those names are used here only to describe what the tool works with.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where local consumer law gives you stronger rights, those rights are unaffected.
